Now, more than ever, "Girl Power" is being measured in watts and personal records. EuroCycler is adding fuel to the charge with a special clinic created for female cyclists and multi-sport athletes at our unique cycling resort near Gerona, Spain.
Whether your goal is to ride to stay fit, complete your first sprint distance triathlon or conquer the national race circuit, our Women's Cycling Clinic experience offers the opportunity to meet and learn from elite-level female riders and coaches who know what it takes to reach the next level. Clinic leaders include Giana Roberge, the coach and manager of the Saturn Cycling Women's Team for over four years, and Laury Saligman, a successful Cat II racer who also maintains a busy career and personal life.
Our Women's Cycling Clinic features great riding along the scenic Mediterranean coast. You'll choose from up to 10 different speed groups, from intermediate riders to experienced cyclists. Each speed group will have between 5 and 15 cyclists and will be led by a coach who will help to improve your cycling along every challenging mile.
Uniquely for participants in our Women's Cycling Clinic, you'll take part in special discussion forums and skills clinics created specifically for female cyclists. Topics will include subjects like finding a bike that fits properly, dealing with seat comfort issues and balancing cycling with family and social life. In other words, stuff that goes way beyond what you want to discuss with your average bike store mechanic.
You'll also have plenty of opportunities to meet and socialize with our many other cyclists from around the world and take advantage of our resort's extensive facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, a private beach, sports massage studios-- even a German-style beer garden and discotheque! Single or married, you'll meet and mix with other interesting, athletic cyclists from all over Europe and North America.
Put it together and it's an unforgettable cycling experience created for women by women, set amid the stunning beauty of the Spanish Mediterranean. Best of all, by the end of the trip, you'll feel great, look great and know a whole lot more about bicycling.
What are your cycling goals?
One of the best things about EuroCycler is that our programs bring together cyclists and multi-sport athletes with a range of abilities from just about every corner of the world. This creates a fun, multi-cultural atmosphere for cyclists to learn from each other in addition to what they learn from our staff coaches and riders.
But we also recognize that the needs and expectations of different levels of cyclists have to be addressed, well… differently. Therefore, we have put together the following pop-up menu to better explain what female cyclists of various level can expect to take away from our Women's Cycling Clinic. Simply choose the profile which most closely matches yours and click on the appropriate button.
1. I'm a female cyclist who currently rides about 20 miles per week. I'd love to ride more but I have a full-time job and a family to look after. My goal is to simply learn a little more about my bike and improve my cycling skills so that I can finish the next 50-mile charity ride and still be able to walk the next day. (Click here)

2. I'm a female cyclist who regularly rides about 50 miles each week during the summer. I belong to a cycling/tri club and often participate in charity rides of 75-100 miles or even the occasional sprint-distance triathlon. I'm still a little intimidated by racing although I'd be interested in participating in some local events if I felt a little more comfortable about my abilities. (Click here)
3. As an avid female cyclist/multi-sport athlete, I try to ride about 100 miles a week. I'll compete in several races or tri events each year, and I set new goals for myself each season. However, with my job and family demands, I often have a hard time making any real improvement. (Click here)
A packed schedule. Packed with fun, that is.
Our week-long Women's clinic runs from Saturday to Saturday, with a day off on Tuesday to enjoy sightseeing and shopping in nearby Barcelona.
Depending on the speed group you join, you'll ride between 40 and 110 miles in a day under the guidance of our ride leaders, gradually building in distance and challenge throughout the week to improve endurance and conditioning. Routes vary from rolling terrain along the scenic coastline to challenging climbs. For complete route profiles, click here.
In addition, you'll also have the option to take part in a day of technical training focusing on such skills as climbing and descending techniques, time trialing, pace line riding, drafting, interval training and more.
In the late afternoons, you can choose from a number of sport therapy treatments in our spa, join some of the other multi-sport athletes for a run or an open-water swim, or simply savor a cappuccino on the sun terrace.

Nightly sumptuous buffet feasts will be followed by moderated discussions or training presentations. Led by Giana, Laury, or one of our other coaches or exercise physiologists, each presentation will focus on a different topic or issue of interest to female athletes. In this comfortable, private setting, there will be opportunities for each guest to ask questions and participate.

Women-specific cycling discussions that cut right to the chase.
One of the central components of our Women's Cycling Clinic is our series of evening discussions and presentations on the cycling and training issues of greatest interest to women.
Held in an informal setting and moderated by Giana and Laury, each will focus on a different cycling-related topic presented from a feminine point of view. Plus you'll have the opportunity to seek advice specific to your personal situation and concerns.
The following are just a few of the topics and questions to be discussed:
- Bicycle Maintenance 101
- Does my bike fit? Common problems and real solutions for fitting women on stock frames.
- How and where can I get fitted for the best bike for me?
- How do I deal with saddle discomfort issues?
- How do I balance cycling with a family and social life?
- How do I prepare for specific events?
- How do I deal with feminine hygiene issues while riding, training or racing?
- What training tools are appropriate for me?
- How can I find other women to ride with?
- How do I find a coach who understands women's athletic needs?
- Is racing for me and how do I get started?
- What hurdles do women cyclists face and how do I get over them?

Clinic Leaders
Giana Roberge
For over 4 years, Giana served as the coach and manager of the Saturn Cycling Women's Team, which finished in the top 3 in the global UCI rankings in each of the last 5 seasons and recently became the #1 ranked women's racing team in the world. Giana is also a world-class cyclist in her own right: she is the current US National Masters Time Trial Champion and finished second in the 2003 Masters World Time Trials. Now she brings her wealth of coaching and riding experience to EuroCycler, serving as a Ride Group Leader for our general program as well as Co-Leader for the Women's Cycling Clinic at our resort near Gerona, Spain. Giana is also training to compete in perhaps the most grueling cycling event in America, the race across America (RAAM), which will take place between San Diego and Atlantic City in June 2004. Her only weakness is a passion for Starbucks non-fat lattes.

Laury Saligman
For over a decade, Laury Saligman has successfully balanced the demands of a professional career and personal life with a passion for cycling and road racing. With a MS in Environmental Health Sciences from Harvard University, Laury began her career working for a Fortune 500 company, which afforded her the opportunity to work and live in England and Belgium as well as the US. As someone who loves travel and being outdoors, she has always found a way to ensure that riding and training are an integral part of her daily life. Currently, she is juggling her schedule in order to compete as a Cat 2 road racer while also meeting her responsibilities as Manager of New Media and Publications at Conservation International's Center for Environmental Leadership in Business in Washington, DC. Because she really has nothing else going on, Laury is joining EuroCycler as co-Leader of the Women's Cycling Clinic to help other female athletes of all levels reach their individual cycling goals.
