Girona, Costa Brava, Spain
Spring Cycling Training - for Triathletes too!
Pumping up the steep grade of the coastal climbs on the Costa Brava,
your legs burn. Your heart pounds. But fueled by the spirit of cycling's
hallowed ground, you gut it out to the top.
From the summit, you take in the jaw-dropping view. Far below, the
azure Mediterranean crashes into a rocky coast. The pink hues of the
setting sun reflect off the white stucco walls of a tiny fishing village.
And in the distance, you can just make out the rising peaks of the
Pyrenées.
This is why you've come - to train in the proving grounds of the
world's elite cyclists (and the place Lance Armstrong himself called
home), and to savor the incomparable beauty of the Spanish coast.
You'll discover it all on your daily training rides, which begin and
end each day at a sports resort situated on the sunny beaches of the
Spanish Mediterranean coast, just an hour north of Barcelona.
Ideal Conditions for Spring Training
Our trip to Gerona is the perfect way to get a head start on your
cycling season. Throughout the spring, road traffic is at a minimum.
The weather is warm and clear, with average daily temperatures
between 60º F and 73º F (16º C - 23º C).

Non-riding Partner Sports Program

Our program for non-cycling partners includes sports activities such as kick-boxing, aerobics and other fitness programs in the resort's newly built gymnasium. You can use our spinning bikes, soccer fields, fitness studio, tennis courts, indoor saline pool, outdoor lap pool and the scenic resort beach. Licensed instructors lead all group activities and our full-time exercise physiologist is available for personal consultations. To top it all off, schedule some time with our massage therapists.
Golf Courses in the region
The Girona/Costa Brava region is one of the most beautiful areas of Catalonia in Spain and probably the whole of Spain. Located 55 miles north of Barcelona, in the north east corner of the country, its coast is lapped by the crystal waters of the Mediterranean and its interior overlooked by the spectacular and mighty Pyrenees. Golf in the Costa Brava is second to none and it has received the distinction of being the world's best emerging golf destination. The area around Girona features at least 9 golf courses, three of them within 10 miles of EuroCycler’s camp site. One of these three is the PGA Catalunya Golf Course. This course was voted one of the ten best golf courses in Europe in 2001 by Golf World magazine and one of its writers, Steve Carr, described it as the 'jewel in the crown'. It truly is a stunning course with the Pyrenees as a backdrop, which only adds to the magic. PGA Catalunya golf course was designed by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo and after only opening at the end of 1998, has already hosted the Sarazen World Open in 1999 and the Spanish Open in 2000. Sightseeing
and Non-Sports Activities
Nearby, the medieval seaside town of Tossa de Mar offers shopping, sightseeing and a strip of delightful cafes and bistros right on the beach. We offer a day-trip to nearby Barcelona on our rest day where you'll discover the surreal architectural vision of Antonio Gaudi. Barcelona is a vibrant cultural center where you'll want to museum-hop to take in the masterworks of Picasso, Dali and Miro. Better yet, find your way into one of the city's many lively tapas bars to sample its spicy offerings over sangria and cervezas.
There are a handful of charming medieval villages that dot the countryside within 40 miles of the resort. We'll guide you to your own discovery of Catalan's treasures. Any number of day trips and outings are possible.
